Level on points, both battling for a top three spot and a local derby – there’s plenty at stake when Hinckley AFC face Atherstone Town at St John’s Park this evening.
As the sides meet for the A5 Clasico, Hinckley currently sit above the Adders only on goal difference, but have a game in hand over Ivor Green’s men who visit them tomorrow.
But as the final run in starts, tomorrow’s winners will move up into third while a draw will see both sides move up a place in the table.
The game also sees the meeting of the league’s third and fourth leading scorers with Hinckley’s Steve Hart and Atherstone’s Alex Naughton going head to head.
Hart, with 48 goals in 36 games, has been Hinckley’s biggest threat in front of goal but has been well-supported by Luke Richards’ 26.
Naughton, meanwhile, won the league’s golden boot last season just ahead of then-AFC skipper Ryan Seal, and has still managed better than a goal a game this term with 40 in 37 games.
Indeed, it was Naughton who turned the reverse fixture on its head way back in August, when more than 400 basked basked in the hot Bank Holiday sunshine and saw him score twice late on to earn the Adders all three points.
