Hinckley AFC are targeting a sixth win on the bounce when in-form Uttoxeter Town visit St John’s Park tomorrow evening.
After nine points picked up in five days last week, AFC’s run of games continues this week with the visit of Uttoxeter before two quickfire away trips starting with Littleton on Thursday.
And though legs will be heavy, confidence will be high in the Hinckley dressing room having not lost a league game since Boxing Day.
That unbeaten run extended to eight on Saturday as Luke Richards’ goal and James Williams’ quickfire brace turned a 2-0 deficit on its head against Pershore Town.
And with the momentum at their backs, they will be looking for another three points tomorrow but face a tough test against a Uttoxeter side unbeaten in five.
Like Hinckley, the Staffordshire outfit have struggled to play games this calendar year but have only lost once since a 13-1 thrashing at Atherstone before Christmas.
That means it’s just one defeat in eight, while they are currently on a five match unbeaten run that has lifted them to 15th in the table, with 36 points from their 31 games.
The return of James Curley has helped – he has scored 16 goals in just 11 games since returning to Oldfields and was their top scorer with 34 goals in their first season in the Midland League in 2014-15.
With Hinckley on a run of five straight wins and Uttoxeter five unbeaten, something’s got to give by 10pm tomorrow.
