Hinckley AFC coach Tom Cherry says his side are a work in progress but “building nicely” under the new stewardship of Dale Belford.
AFC have now won their last four straight games after yesterday’s comfortable home win over Stafford Town.
And Cherry, who joined Belford’s backroom staff from Barwell, wants his side to keep building the head of steam that has yielded that impressive recent run.
He said: “We’re a work in progress at the minute but we’re stringing wins together and we’re building nicely.
“We’re just taking each game as it comes, trying to build up wins and momentum. Hopefully we can keep it going.”
Isaac Cooper’s performance on the wing in the win over Stafford earned praise from supporters, and Cherry says Cooper just needs to achieve those standards more consistently.
“We all know the quality that Isaac has got – it’s just getting it out of him every game. He’s doing really well at the minute”
He also reserved praise for Luke Richards, who has now scored six times in his last three games. The striker has now scored 55 goals for the club during his time, and Cherry feels he’s getting his rewards after rejoining the club in October.
“Luke works tremendously hard and he’s getting his reward at the moment. He’s quick and strong, he can run in behind and when he gets a chance it usually goes in the back of the net.
“Being ruthless is a lot of what we’re talking about at the moment. We’re creating a lot of chances and as we move forward hopefully we can take more and more of them.”
