While we have been used to seeing jet heeled performances over the years with the likes of Javia Roberts flying down the wing, it recently became the turn of our very own ‘Rocket’ Ron Ashby to show a turn of pace in the name of Hinckley AFC and in support of a tremendous cause.
The Hinckley AFC director raised nearly a thousand pounds for Cancer Research UK as he poignantly donned his pink World Cancer Day Hinckley AFC shirt to run the Birmingham Half Marathon, continuing the fine tradition established by those associated to the club in going the extra mile (or 13.1) for charity.
The club’s initiatives started with the former manager Carl Abbott-inspired World Cancer Day commemorative kit and continue through the endeavours of Ron and many others who have taken to the streets and roads for good causes.
These efforts embody what the club is about and continue the legacy of the great spirit and selfless work undertaken by the hugely missed Simon Blyth.
Congratulations to Ron on another fantastic run, completed in two hours and 25 minutes, which raised £910 for a Cancer Research.
One club, we are HAFC
