Dale Belford’s first league game in charge of Hinckley AFC is a trip to Coventry Alvis tomorrow afternoon, kick off 3pm.
Having spent Tuesday’s Leicestershire Challenge Cup defeat to Aylestone Park in the dugout for the first time, it’s now back to the bread and butter of Total Motion MFL Division One action for Belford and his side.
That side could include three debutants, with Ty Belford, Kevin Thornton and Dominic Perkins all in contention to play for the first time at Green Lane.
Still in third place, Hinckley are six points off table toppers Studley and are comfortably the league’s leading scorers. Defence has been the problem, though, with the signings of Belford and Perkins looking to address the backline that has let in two goals a game on average so far this term.
Tomorrow, they take on an Alvis side who were promoted from Division Two last season but are now at the foot of the Division One table, with two wins and nine defeats from their 11 games so far.
The wins have come against Nuneaton Griff and Cadbury Athletic, but they have struggled in recent weeks, losing eight of their last ten in all competitions and failing to score in six of them.
Hinckley won both previous meetings between the sides back in 2014-15, a 6-1 win at home followed by by a 2-0 success away.
Having groundshared at Southam United during their previous season in Division One, Alvis are now back at their traditional Green Lane home in Finham, Coventry, CV3 6EH.
