Hinckley AFC and Walsall Wood have won both of their competitive games thus far. Something will have to change when the sides meet at St John’s Park tomorrow.
In Hinckley’s first home game of the new season, recently relegated Wood visit St John’s Park with both sides looking to extend their 100% records so far this season.
The sides recorded victories in the Emirates FA Cup nearly ten days ago, and then came away with all three points in their league openers on Saturday.
Hinckley won 4-2 at Stafford, having been 3-0 up at half time, while goals were more difficult to come by in Wood’s league opener – just the one second half goal separating them from Cadbury Athletic.
That goal was scored by former Hinckley forward Paul Sullivan, who also netted twice in their cup win the week before.
Hinckley have now played 158 competitive matches since their formation in 2014, but their only 0-0 draw in that time came against Walsall Wood in their first ever FA Cup game. Incidentally, that game also took place on 15th August.
Hinckley went on to win the replay, and two years on the sides now meet for the first time in the league after Wood were relegated on goal difference last term.
With both sides full of confidence heading into the game, it promises to be a cracker. Kick off is at 7-45pm.
