The proposed constitution for the Midland League Division One in 2017-18 has been released, and sees the league expanded to 21 teams.
The proposed constitution sees four new arrivals while only three teams departed the league, meaning there is an increase from 20 teams last season. The West Midlands Regional League Premier also consists of 21 teams.
Coming into the league are Brocton and Walsall Wood, who were both relegated from the Premier Division last term. Paget Rangers come into the league having been promoted from Division Two, and they will be joined by either Alvis Sporting or Droitwich Spa, pending the outcome of an appeal.
Leaving Division One are champions Bromsgrove Sporting, promoted to the Premier Division, and relegated sides Pelsall Villa and Southam United. Southam have today announced that they will not run a senior side next season, instead focusing on a return to Division Three in 2018-19.
The proposed line-up is as follows
- Alvis Sporting/Droitwich Spa
- Atherstone Town
- Bolehall Swifts
- Brocton
- Cadbury Athletic
- Chelmsley Town
- Coventry Copsewood
- Heath Hayes
- Heather St John’s
- Hinckley AFC
- Leicester Road
- Lichfield City
- Littleton
- Nuneaton Griff
- Paget Rangers
- Pershore Town
- Racing Club Warwick
- Stafford Town
- Studley
- Uttoxeter Town
- Walsall Wood
The constitution is subject to change until it is formally ratified at the League AGM later this summer.
