Hinckley AFC captain Ryan Seal says everyone at the club knows where they need to improve ahead of next season.
The skipper’s 56 goals goals in all competitions were at the forefront of Hinckley’s attacking prowess all season that saw them end as the league’s top scorers, netting one more than champions Bromsgrove Sporting.
But Seal said it’s at the back where his side have to improve if they want to achieve their goals next season.
He said: “We’ve scored 133 goals in the league and that’s been great but we know where we need to work on next season, and that’s at the other end.
“We’ve been leaking too many goals from all over the park so if we can take 20 goals away from what we’ve let in this year then we won’t be far off winning the league.”
And to finish top of the pile is the only acceptable position next year, according to Seal.
“We’ve progressed every year. Having finished second, the only place for improvement now is top spot so we’ll come back next year fitter, stronger, better and hungrier.
“We all know what our target is next year. It’s nothing less than promotion. It’s on our heads, we need to make sure we deal with the pressure and be ruthless in every area of the pitch.
And at the end of a long season in which Hinckley played 53 games, Seal had a message for the club’s supporters who have continued to follow the club in great numbers throughout.
“I’d also like to say thank you to all the fans who have followed home and away in great numbers all season.
“That today is for them as much as it is for all the lads and our hard work over the year, so we’d all like to thank them.”
