Hinckley AFC start the final month of the Midland League First Division season with a game against Coventry Copsewood at St John’s Park this afternoon, kick off 3pm.
In the first of five straight home games, Carl Abbott’s side host a Copsewood outfit who sit solidly in mid-table while AFC will look to strengthen their grip on second place.
Today’s visitors sit 12th in the league, with 40 points from their 32 games, and have had plenty of goals in their fixtures this term. They have netted 63 times but conceded 77, with only Southam United and Studley letting in more.
But in front of goal they have three players into double figures – David Akinuli (16), Connoll Farrell (15) and former Hinckley man David Blenkinsopp (11) all finding the net regularly.
Copsewood come into the game off the back of two defeats to table toppers Bromsgrove Sporting and third placed Leicester Road, but before that won their previous two with a league win over Littleton and a cup victory over Nuneaton Griff.
Hinckley, meanwhile, are a point ahead of Leicester Road in second, and as the league’s leading scorers will be looking to build on their 108 league goals so far, while captain Ryan Seal is just two away from 50 goals this season.
Abbott’s side hit Southam United for ten on Tuesday to return to winning ways after last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Studley and tomorrow’s will be just their second Saturday home game since the end of January.
