Hinckley AFC could reach the semi finals of the Polymac Packaging League Cup for the first time when they take on Rocester at St John’s Park tonight, kick off 7-30pm.
The final quarter final tie to be played sees Division One Hinckley, currently second in the league, take on a Rocester side who sit solidly in mid-table in the Premier Division.
On the back of their fifth straight win on Saturday, Hinckley have scored 13 goals in their last two games and now take on a Rocester side who lost for the first time in six games on Saturday.
The Romans’ last few games have also seen plenty of goals, with a 4-3 win (in the previous round of the League Cup against Brocton) and a 4-4 draw amongst their recent results.
They occupy 12th place in the Premier Division, having picked up 37 points from their 30 matches thus far, and will be looking to going one better than their League Cup efforts of two years ago, when they were beaten 2-0 in the final by Long Eaton United.
A win tonight will put them just one tie away from reaching the Bescot Stadium for the second time in three years, while Hinckley are the last remaining Division One side in the tournament and will look to go through to the last four for the first time.
Should Hinckley win, they will face a Leicestershire derby in the semi finals with St Andrews awaiting the winners. The tie will be a two-legged affair and St Andrews, Hinckley or Rocester will face Alvechurch or Highgate United in the final.
