Hinckley AFC defender Lee Thomas said his side now have to build on their recent good form following their 4-0 win at Lichfield City.
The left back was instrumental in the win over another side who had started the season well, and feels the AFC defence have to continue to add to their recent clean sheets. He said: “We’ve got to build on from that now. It was a sticky pitch, so that makes it even better for us, as a defence, to keep that clean sheet.
“Clean sheets can hopefully help us go on and win the league, so we’ve just got to build on from that now.”
Going far in the league may be the squad’s ultimate goal, but Thomas says the squad aren’t looking towards the end of the season and are focussed solely on the next game.
“(Having a settled defence now) is helping, but we’ve just got to take each game as it comes. Whatever the line up is, we’ve just got to gt those three points and move onto the next one.
“We’ve got a nice, tight back four now but it’s all about the team. We’ve got a nice, tight team together now who are working really well, and that’s what it all counts for.
“As Abbo and Tommo have said, we just have to take each game as we go, and if we have to, take each half as we go.
“Getting those three points is the main important thing, it;s even better with the clean sheet, and we now move onto next week.”
