Thumbs up for Harvey

When Harvey, the goalkeeper for Hinckley AFC’s under 12s team, was diagnosed with leukemia in April, he wanted to get back playing football as soon as he could.
Usually one to prevent goals, this time Harvey is achieving them and started training with his junior side earlier in September – a month ahead of his target.
Coach of the under 12s, Andy Davis, said: “When Harvey came to our end of season party in May, it was one of the first times he had been out of hospital and he told me that he was aiming to get back to playing football as soon as he could.
“He was aiming for October 2016, and I’m really pleased that he has been able to take some part in our training sessions already. We are very much looking forward to having Harvey back playing for the team.”
Over the last few weeks, the club and junior set up have launched the ‘Thumbs up for Harvey’ campaign, with the first team and junior sides both putting their thumbs up in support of the goalkeeper.
Andy said: “It is great to see the support that the senior club are giving Harvey and I am sure you will all join in and give Harvey a big thumbs up whilst he continues his treatment.”
On behalf of everyone at Hinckley AFC, our thumbs are up for Harvey. It’s great to see him back training again.
