Hinckley AFC continued their impressive recent run with a comprehensive 6-1 win at Uttoxeter Town on Saturday.
Carl Abbott’s side have now scored seventeen goals in their last five games after the win at Oldfields, which was started by a Mike Harvey assisted own goal.
New signing Paul Sullivan netted a brace on debut, while captain Ryan Seal also netted twice and Sam Agar once as Hinckley recorded their biggest win of the season.
Sullivan, Agar and Seal were three of the changes from last week’s win at Holbrook Sports, with Ryan Paddock also returning at the heart of the defence.
And Hinckley’s attacking trio were on the front foot from the very start, taking the lead after just five minutes had passed. Harvey’s marauding run down the right ended with a low cross, which was diverted into his own net by Doug Price.
Three minutes later it was 2-0 as Agar latched onto a ball over the top, out running two defenders and lobbing home from twenty yards.
Agar continued to be heavily involved along with Lee Butler, and the duo were both involved in Hinckley’s third on the stroke of half time. Butler received the ball from Agar and found Sullivan with a low pass, the debutant coolly slotting between Alex Langridge’s legs to open his AFC account.
Uttoxeter started the second half brightly in their quest to claw themselves back into the game, but any hope they had was quashed when Seal finished off Butler’s through ball.
The only downside for AFC was their inability to keep a clean sheet. They still haven’t recorded one in the league this season after Luke Lewis converted from the spot to make it 4-1.
Not to be deterred, Hinckley pressed again and added gloss to the scoreline with two late goals. Sullivan slammed home after Langridge only parried Agar’s shot, before Seal completed the win from the penalty spot following a foul on Agar.
Hinckley have now won four of their last five games, and will take huge confidence into the FA Vase tie at Greenwood Meadows next week.
