Manager Carl Abbott has made two new additions to his backroom team ahead of the start of pre-season training next week.
Wayne Connolly and JJ Melligan both take their places on the coaching staff with the players reuniting next week ahead of the 2016-17 season.
Joining as goalkeeping coach, Connolly worked with the club briefly last term. Abbott says he is still ‘fit and in great shape’, having played for Oadby Town last season.
He will also be signing a playing form and will be keeping AFC’s keepers firmly on their toes, according to the former Wolves Casuals boss.
Meanwhile, Melligan makes the step up into a player-coach role and will assist Abbott and assistant Paul Tomlinson in the management of the side.
Abbott said: ‘This is a very natural progression for JJ. His experience and know how will now have real opportunity to rub off on our young players
‘We will hope to see much more of JJ playing again this season after a season largely of unavailability last time around.
‘JJ was sorely missed, and will again be a big influence on the pitch this term, together with his new off field duties.’
Abbott’s squad return to the club next week, before tackling another session on Croft Hill the following week. The first pre-season friendly takes place on 9th July against Heather St John’s.
