Hinckley AFC’s recent good run will be put under scrutiny this evening when league leaders Bromsgrove Sporting visit St John’s Park, kick off 7-45pm.
Carl Abbott’s side won all three of their games over a hectic Easter period, when an outstanding away performance at Lichfield City backed up wins over Pershore Town and Heather St John’s.
And Abbo’s men will face a tough test against the table topping Rouslers this evening, who will play their fourth consecutive away game in their battle for the title.
Sporting manager Paul Smith watched Hinckley’s games at Pilkington XXX and Lichfield City, and will know about the threats AFC will pose.
With seven games remaining, Bromsgrove are two points ahead of Nuneaton Griff having played the same number of games, and eight ahead of Coventry United, who have four games in hand.
The Bromsgrove Standard are reporting that Sporting’s top scorer in the league, Reece Hewitt, is one of four midfield absentees for the Rouslers alongside Sam Wills, Ethan Hanks and former Hinckley man Nathan Walker.
The previous four meetings between the sides have been shared two wins apiece. Interestingly, Bromsgrove have scored twice every time the two sides have met – the result has depended on how many Hinckley have scored!
If the previous meetings are anything to go by, tonight’s game promises to be a cracker.
