Match Preview: Pilkington XXX (a)
Just a fortnight after the last meeting between the two sides, Hinckley AFC travel to Pilkington XXX this evening looking to make it ten games without defeat.
Two weeks ago, Sam Agar’s display of clinical finishing saw him net all four goals in a 4-1 Hinckley win, and Carl Abbott will be hoping for a repeat result tomorrow to build on a professional display against Pelsall Villa at the weekend.
On Saturday, Isaac Cooper’s brace at The Bush Ground extended Hinckley’s run to nine unbeaten, while Pilks were defeated by Mark Latham’s late winner for Atherstone Town.
It was the third loss in a row for Pilkington, following successive 4-1 defeats to AFC and Nuneaton Griff, and as a result, they have dropped to eighth in the league table with eleven matches to play, five points behind sixth placed Hinckley.
On last season’s visit to Pilkington, Hinckley broke their winless run with a 5-2 win, courtesy of Justin Nisbett’s brace and goals from Mark Bellingham and Nathan Walker adding to an own goal.
The reverse fixture also saw a lengthy run come to an end – Pilks took a 2-2 draw to halt AFC’s eight straight wins.
Pilkington play at the Triplex Sports Association Ground, Eckersall Road, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B38 8SR. The ground is approximately four and a half miles from Junction Two of the M42, and just a short walk from the nearby Kings Norton railway station.
