Match Preview: Pelsall Villa (h)
Hinckley AFC will be looking continue their recent run of four wins in five when they host Pelsall Villa at St John’s Park this evening, kick off 7-45pm.
Saturday’s professional 2-0 win over Cadbury Athletic was a fourth in five games for Carl Abbott’s side, as goals from David Blenkinsopp and Bilal Yafai secured all three points.
And AFC will move into the top six in the Midland League First Division with a win over a Pelsall side under who have vastly improved from the side that was bottom of the table for large spells of last term.
Pelsall have won six of their 24 games this season, and they currently sit 16th in the table with 20 points, above Heather St Johns on goal difference.
However, going into tonight’s game they have played only five times this calendar year and are yet to avoid defeat, and have recently appointed a new management duo Shaun Mason and Darren Phillips.
Twelve goal Spencer Blackham has been well supported by eight goals from Dean Williams this campaign, and they are likely to prove Pelsall’s biggest threats against a Hinckley defence who have kept two straight clean sheets.
Indeed, Blackham and Williams both found the net last season when Pelsall twice took the lead against Hinckley at The Bush Ground, only for ten-man AFC to bounce back and win 3-2.
The other meeting saw Abbo’s men romp to a 13-0 win in August, with Mark Bellingham and Luke Richards both netting hat-tricks as AFC were awarded Robbie Savage’s Non-League Team of the Day.
