Abbo and Thommo on Cadbury win
Hinckley AFC’s management team Carl Abbott and Paul Tomlinson described yesterday’s win over Cadbury Athletic as ‘professional’.
AFC had to be patient in order to break down a resolute Cadbury side, and were rewarded 17 minutes from time thanks to David Blenkinsopp’s close range finish.
And the win was secured late on when debutant Bilal Yafai fired home six minutes into his Hinckley career.
Abbo said the half time message was to keep being patient and the goals would come. He said: ‘It was a good day’s work. I thought we stuck at it, I thought we controlled the game in the first half and the message was just to be patient, bide our time and work our opportunities around the box without snatching at things or forcing things to happen.
‘Even in the second half we stuck at it and we had to change our line of attack a bit. It was one of those days really.
‘Cadbury were very well organised, they sat deep and tried to look for counter attacks and mistakes from us to capitalise upon.
‘It was difficult to break through so it was just a case of sticking at it, being the dominant side and taking the breakthrough when it came.
‘It was a really good, professional win and we’re very pleased.’
