Match Preview: Cadbury Athletic (h)

Luke Richards will become Hinckley AFC’s record appearance holder if he plays in tomorrow’s game against Cadbury Athletic at St John’s Park, kick off 3pm.

The club captain is currently level with Nathan Walker’s 66 club games, and will take the record on his own if he appears in tomorrow’s game. He is also closing in on reaching 50 club goals, having netted 44 times for the club thus far.

Tomorrow, AFC take on a Cadbury side who have played three times this week and are yet to find the net, but before that beat league leaders Coventry United ten days ago.

As a result, they sit comfortably in mid table, with 29 points from their 22 games placing them 11th in the league.

For 8th placed Hinckley, this is the sixth game in eighteen days and Carl Abbott’s injury-hit side will be hoping to build on the confidence of Tuesday’s comprehensive victory over Birstall United in the Jelson Homes Senior Cup.

However, they will have to do it without Tom Bates and Kristian Ramsey-Dickson (both foot) and Alex Penny (hamstring), while Alex Morris has a knee problem and will feature ‘sparingly’ for the rest of the season, according to the former Wolves Casuals boss.

Last year’s Young Player of the Year Isaac Cooper has returned to the squad, while attacking midfielder Bilal Yafai is the latest new addition.

The two sides last met on the opening day of the season,
when Marco Adaggio’s goal in first half stoppage time was the difference between the sides. The two matches last season yielded a win apiece.
