Ponchinello’s Player of the Month for December: Nominees

The five nominees for the Ponchinello’s Player of the Month award for December have been revealed this afternoon.

An inconsistent month from Carl Abbott’s side saw them record two wins, a draw and two defeats, but five nominees have impressed with some solid performances throughout the month. Here’s a look at those who impressed in December…

The winner of November’s award, December was another solid month between the sticks for goalkeeper Tom Cross. He made crucial saves in the first half at Stafford Town, and came close to scoring a late winner against Leicester Road during a cameo outfield appearance.

The next nominee is Darious Darkin. The midfielder has played in four of AFC’s five games this month, and has controlled the middle of the park for long spells despite not finding the net himself.

Next on the list is Marcus Jackson. Another to make four appearances during the month, the former Evesham man has played at right back and in midfield during December, looking assured in both positions. His set piece deliveries set up the first two goals at Stafford Town.

For a third month in a row, Ryan Seal has earned himself a place on the shortlist. He scored three goals this month, each of them from the penalty spot, including the dramatic late winner against Leicester Road. He has also worn the captain’s armband when Luke Richards has been absent.

The final nominee is Lee Thomas. Man of the Match against Nuneaton Griff, the ex-Southam left back only narrowly missed out on November’s award but is in contention again after an impressive month in defence and going forward.
