Landmark Moments: A Century of Goals
Before a ball was kicked by Carl Abbott’s Hinckley AFC team, there was always going to be history made by the men that donned the inaugural AFC kit.
But little did we know just how significant some of those records that were about to be set would prove to be!
From JJ Melligan leading the team out as first ever captain and then goalscorer, to Abbo himself being our first Manager the landmarks moments have kept on coming during an exciting first season.
One particular landmark was reached during Saturday’s 5-2 victory at Studley which, as well as continuing the exceptional 27 match unbeaten run also saw the 100 league goals smashed. Justin Nisbett’s goal, the fourth of the day, secured the century.
Along the way twenty AFC players (plus some from opposition teams!) have contributed towards that total, some fondly remembered and many still making a great contribution to the evolution of YOUR club!
Here’s how the first ever 100 league goals scored during the 2014-15 season break down…
1 – Craig Bannister, Adrian Jones, Sean Williams, James Bennett-Tindall, Matt Bailey, John Clapp, Isaac Cooper
2 – Michael Healy, Rob Millington, Ross Clarke, Tyrone Clarke-O’Connell, Alex Morris
4 – Dom Smith
5 – Nathan Walker, Opposition Own Goals
6 – Justin Nisbett, Mark Bellingham
7 – JJ Melligan
14 – Luke Richards
16 – Matt Gardner
20 – Marco Adaggio

That’s the first hundred goals in the record books, and with a little bit of football still to play this season who knows, there could be some more history made yet…
