Match Preview: Uttoxeter Town (h)
Hinckley AFC will play their first competitive home fixture this evening when they entertain newly promoted Uttoxeter Town at St John’s Park, kick off 7-45pm.
The Staffordshire outfit were promoted from step seven last year, and lost 1-0 to Littleton in their first outing on Saturday.
Hinckley, meanwhile, will be looking to build on Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Southam United, where over 100 fans travelled to watch the club’s first league game. Manager Carl Abbott said that the players were inspired by Saturday’s turnout, and he hopes for similar support tonight. ‘I am really hoping for a good attendance and atmosphere this evening, after such a fantastic show of support from the travelling fans at Southam on Saturday.
‘They never stopped singing, and it really does make a huge difference to the players.’
Abbott also says that tonight’s team will not be too dissimilar to the one that played well on Saturday. ‘Sam Arnold will remain in goal as Ben Astley nears a return to full fitness. Matty Martin is still a little way off being able to return to the side after his concussion.
‘George Williams has a persistent calf problem, which flared up again on Saturday. He is a doubt for tonight’s game, but James Bennett-Tindall returns to the squad after being on holiday.
‘Craig Bannister has now left the club after his impressive pre-season campaign. This is a disappointment, but has been softened by the arrival of Mark Bellingham.
‘Chris Sockett has also decided to leave the club, after not being involved with Saturday’s season opener.’
