Match Preview: AFC Rushden & Diamonds (a)
Hinckley AFC will be looking to win their first trophy in their first competitive match when Carl Abbott’s side take on AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the Supporters Direct Shield on Wednesday night, kick off 7-45pm.
The SD Shield is an annual event contested by two fan owned clubs, and it will give Hinckley AFC an early opportunity to win a piece of silverware.
The home side, however, will be looking to avenge last season’s defeat in the same competition, when they lost out to 1874 Northwich.
Ahead of the fixture, Abbott was looking forward to what he hoped would be a memorable occasion. He said ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to have a prestigious game with a competitive element to it just before the start of our league season.’
‘I hope that our supporters will travel in large numbers for this game, and give the players a feel good factor going into the start of the league season’
AFC Rushden & Diamonds play at the Dog and Duck Ground, London Road, Wellingborough, NN8 2DP.
