Match Preview: Bartley Green Illey (a)
Hinckley AFC will be looking to build on a successful start to their existence when Carl Abbott’s side travel to Bartley Green Illey on Saturday.
It will be a memorable occasion for the home side, who play their first ever fixture after the previous club was recently liquidated.
Abbott is keen to use the fixture to improve on aspects of the game where he felt his side were lacking last week. He said ‘In the first half I want to go with a similar set up to that which started last week’s game against Heather.
‘This will give us the chance to brush up in a few aspects of the game that we were not so pleased with last week. I hope to see us remain expansive in our play, but also be a little more compact when not in possession.
‘The second half side will see a number of trialists who have spent pre-season with us, along with some more experienced players to help them along.
‘Many of these lads are local to the Hinckley area and have worked extremely hard. They have certainly earned their opportunity to impress and potentially remain with the squad for the remainder of the season.
‘I look forward to seeing our travelling support and speaking with you all at the game.’
