Groundshare Confirmed
Hinckley AFC are delighted to announce that we have signed an agreement with Heather St John’s FC to play senior team fixtures at their St John’s Park home for the forthcoming 2014-15 season.
The agreement has been submitted to the Football Association as part of our application to give Hinckley a community owned football club for next season.
The decision on which league we will be placed will be made by the FA league committee in the summer, but by ground sharing at Heather the club have kept open the opportunity of being accepted at step five of the non-league pyramid; the highest level at which we could be placed.
Acting Chairman of Hinckley AFC Gary Hancox said, ‘We’re delighted that we have secured a place to play next season. Heather St John’s have been extremely accommodating and we know that they will make us feel most welcome for our debut season.’
Chairman of Heather St John’s FC Paul Harrison added, ‘We are very pleased to be able to help a new local community club establish themselves for the forthcoming season.’
The prospective new owners of Hinckley Stadium, Joy and Steve Jelfs, said ‘We are so happy that Hinckley AFC have secured temporary facilities for their first season at such a friendly, well organised club.’
To make it as easy as possible for Hinckley AFC supporters to follow the team, we are planning to run buses to take supporters the 12 miles from Hinckley to Heather.
However, the club would like to assure supporters that we remain fully committed to bringing a senior team back to play in Hinckley as soon as possible, and remain positive that developments in the coming months will see us playing in the town for the 2015-16 season.
With the complications regarding the ownership of the Greene King Stadium, at this moment in time Hinckley AFC have stated that they do not believe any Club will be able to fulfil the security of tenure that the FA require for fixtures to be played there.
Our number one priority was to ensure that we have a club back in a league for next season, and the club are extremely grateful to Heather St John’s FC for enabling us to start this exciting journey.
