Match Preview: Wolves Sporting (a)
Nathan Walker will become the first player to make 50 appearances for Hinckley AFC if he plays in the FA Vase match at Wolves Sporting tomorrow, kick off 3pm.
After signing from Tividale ahead of the club’s inaugural season, Nathan has struck up dominant central midfield partnerships with the likes of JJ Melligan, Ross Clarke and now Neil MacKenzie on his way to scoring eight goals in his first 49 games.
Now, the first player to win the club’s Supporters Player of the Year award will reach a half century of games if he is selected in tomorrow’s tie in the West Midlands against a Sporting side who have started the West Midlands Regional League season well.
They currently sit second on goal difference after a 3-0 win at Dudley Sports on Tuesday evening, having won four of their opening seven games.
They will pose a threat going forward through Jake Healy and Scott Cooper, who have both scored four goals already this season, while at the back they have kept three clean sheets in their opening seven games.
For Hinckley, this is the first of three consecutive cup games, and after an early exit at this stage of the FA Vase last season they will be determined to emulate their FA Cup form and go further in the competition this time around.
The winners of tomorrow’s tie will face Sporting’s league rivals Bromyard Town in the Second Qualifying Round on Saturday 3rd October. If a replay is necessary, it will take place this coming Tuesday evening (8th September) at St John’s Park, kicking off at 7-45pm.
Wolves Sporting play at Pride Park, Hazel Lane, Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, WS6 6AA.
