Match Preview: Lichfield City (h)
Hinckley AFC will look to make it three wins from four in the Midland League Division One when Lichfield City visit St John’s Park tonight, kick off 7-45pm.
Carl Abbott’s side have picked up six points in their three games thus far, and will be in good spirits ahead of the visit of a Lichfield side who have also started the campaign well.
This evening’s visitors have won three of their five games thus far, having recorded wins over Heather St John’s (5-1), Heath Hayes (2-0) and Leicester Road (3-2). Their only defeat thus far has been a 2-1 defeat against a Coventry United side who have a 100% record.
Lichfield’s main goal threat so far has come from Tony Clarke, who has scored five goals in five games this season after netting twenty times for Cadbury Athletic last term.
In the matches between the two sides last season, Hinckley scored twice on each occasion. In November, JJ Melligan played in goal for Hinckley as goals from Marco Adaggio and Dom Smith earned a 2-2 draw at St John’s Park. Three months later, Hinckley came away from The City Ground with a 2-0 win thanks to goals either side of half time from Nathan Walker and Adaggio.
