Abbo and Tommo on Coventry Defeat
Hinckley AFC’s management team of Carl Abbott and Paul Tomlinson reflected on yesterday’s 4-0 defeat to Coventry United.
Abbo labelled the night as ‘bitter-sweet’, and suggested that the result looks ‘horrible’ despite the chances created. He said: ‘It’s bitter sweet really but the result looks horrible and it is what it is: we accept it and we’ll move on. Congratulations to Coventry United on what looks like a really good three points for them.
‘Anyone who was here will know the way the game’s gone, and there were certainly some really good performances in our side. It just wasn’t our night really, it was a crazy game.
‘We could have played for five hours tonight and we wouldn’t have scored. We were just saying that Sean Williams smashed the face of the post with a rasping hundred mile-an-hour drive that the keeper didn’t even see and it came back out as quickly as it went in.
‘I said to Tommo when that happened that we’d better just wipe our mouths and move on from tonight because it was just outrageous.
‘We had five one on ones, Ryan’s had the cross-shot where he’s clean on the keeper and he kicked thin air and fell over, and Justin’s drive in the first ten minuets that sailed over.
We could have won the game 7-4, and one of the guys on their bench said that. But fair play to them, they’ve not fluffed their lines and we have: that’s the tale of the game.’
