UEFA B-licensed former Coventry Copsewood manager Joe Conneely joined Hinckley AFC as Courtney Belford’s assistant in July 2020.

Having put together an exciting young side at Copsewood the previous season before it was curtailed due to coronavirus, he left the club at the end of that shortened campaign.

And after the departure of Gavin Brown, Belford moved quickly to ensure that Conneely, who’s also formerly of Rugby Borough, was part of his backroom team in 2020/21.

After a successful season-and-a-half under Belford, Conneely took charge of the side after the former manager’s departure in May 2022.

Having lost not only a managerial team but 13 players, he was faced with a complete rebuild but guided the side to the third-placed finish, losing to Droitwich Spa on penalties in the play-offs.

But a week later he guided Hinckley to a League Cup trophy with a win over Whitchurch Alport in the final at the Bescot Stadium.

With Belford having re-joined by that stage as his assistant, the pair then took on joint managerial duties in the summer of 2023 and managed the side to Division One title success.
