Experienced goalkeeper Carl O’Neill became Richard Lavery’s first signing as Hinckley AFC manager when he took over in January 2018.
Having joined from Nuneaton Griff, for whom he played against Hinckley a month before signing, he made his debut in the FA Vase tie at Marske and made some smart saves despite defeat.
He is no stranger to Midland League football, having previously spent time with Coventry Sphinx, where he was captain of the side for a time, and Coventry United.
He left Hinckley at the end of that season to join Atherstone Town and spent every season since with the Adders, playing more than 150 games for them and helping them to the Midland League Division One title and establishing them at step five, while also part of two runs to the quarter-finals of the FA Vase.
He returned to Hinckley in the summer of 2024, and then again the following season, after a spell at step four with Rugby Borough, to deputise for Keelan Fallows’ holiday.
