Bannister pleased with Tamworth workout
Hinckley AFC striker Craig Bannister was delighted to test himself against higher level opposition during the side’s 2-0 defeat to Tamworth on Tuesday evening.
Despite the 2-0 win for The Lambs, Hinckley had the ball in the net in the first half and some excellent opportunities.
Bannister, who scored five goals in Hinckley’s win at Bartley Green Illey on Saturday, felt that the side deserved to get a result on Tuesday. He said ‘It’s been a good week.
‘I would probably rather play a team like Tamworth tonight, where you can test yourself and see what you’re up against. But Saturday was good to get a win.
‘I was slightly disappointed tonight, as I thought we could have done a bit better but we deserved something out of the game.
‘But you’ve got to remember that they are four leagues above us, so we’ve done well holding our own.
Bannister also felt that the four division gulf between the two sides wasn’t evident on Tuesday.
‘I agree with that. We’ve got some good players in our squad who could easily make the step up and play at their (Tamworth’s) level.’
