Match Preview: Nuneaton Griff (h)
Hinckley AFC will look to add to the Christmas cheer when they welcome high flying Nuneaton Griff to St John’s Park on Boxing Day, kick off 3pm.
AFC returned to winning ways last time out, overturning a half time deficit to record a 3-2 victory at bottom of the table Stafford Town.
But they will face a stiff test if they are to make it consecutive victories, with The Heartlanders having surprised many by being the league’s top scorers this season. They are also the only side from the Midland League First Division still in the FA Vase.
Despite their dramatic late victory over Pinxton in the FA Vase, Griff have only won once in their last four league games, including a battling defeat to table toppers Coventry United in which they played large parts of the match with nine men.
The league’s three top scorers will all be on show in this game. AFC captain Luke Richards tops the charts with 23 goals in all competitions, and teammate Marco Adaggio sitting third with 21 goals.
The duo are separated in the goalscoring charts by Griff’s Luke Shorthouse, who has netted 22 times and is likely to be their biggest threat tomorrow, though he has been well supported by 15 goals from Aden Moore.
After winning both meetings between the sides 2-0 last season, AFC will be out for revenge having been beaten 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in September.
