Match Preview: Stafford Town (a)
Hinckley AFC will look to get back to winning ways in the league when they travel to bottom of the league Stafford Town this afternoon, kick off 3pm.
After losing their last two in the Midland League Division One, Carl Abbott’s side travel to Evans Park desperate for three points as they hope to keep in touch with the sides above them in the race for FA Cup football next season.
And their final game before Christmas is a trip to a Stafford side who are five points adrift at the foot of the league.
The Reds haven’t won in the league since the middle of September’s 2-0 triumph over fellow strugglers Bolehall Swifts, and only Southam United have scored fewer than their fifteen league goals.
But in Jack Edwards, they have a striker who is close to reaching double figures for the season and will pose a threat to a Hinckley defence who have only kept one clean sheet since mid-October.
The two meetings between the sides last year produced plenty of goals: seventeen in total across the 180 minutes. AFC ran out victors in both meetings, with a 4-3 thriller at Evans Park in early December followed by an 8-2 hammering in the reverse fixture just a fortnight later.
Stafford play at Evans Park, Riverway, Stafford, Staffordshire, ST16 3TH. The ground is approximately three and a half miles from Junction 13 of the M6.
