Match Preview: Chasetown (a)
When Hinckley AFC visited Chasetown in a pre-season friendly back in August, little did they know the two sides would meet again in a much more important encounter less than two months later.
Tomorrow’s FA Cup Second Qualifying Round clash at The Scholars Ground, kick off 3pm, sees the two sides meet competitively for the first time following the 2-2 draw in the pre-season friendly at the beginning of August.
The home side, playing in the Northern Premier League Division One South, two levels above Hinckley, currently sit 18th in the table and are without a home win in the league this season.
However, they have made up for that in the Emirates FA Cup. Having been drawn at home in the two previous rounds, The Scholars are yet to concede a goal in the competition having recorded wins over Evesham United (2-0) and Grantham Town (3-0).
Meanwhile, Hinckley have beaten Walsall Wood, Bromsgrove Sporting and Redditch United to reach this stage, and Carl Abbott’s side will take confidence from the fact that they have been beaten just twice all season.
Having beaten a Redditch side who ply their trade in the league above Chasetown, Hinckley will feel there is no reason why they can’t cause another upset and extend their inaugural run in the world’s most famous domestic cup competition to a sixth match.
