Sporting Khalsa 2-1 Hinckley AFC
Two first half goals were enough to condemn Hinckley AFC to a pre-season defeat away at Midland League Premier side Sporting Khalsa.
Two early goals from Daniel Westwood and Mensah Kinch put Hinckley on the back foot immediately, and despite pulling one back through Luke Richards after the break, Khalsa held on to record a victory in the first meeting between the two sides.
Khalsa started brightly, and Westwood scored inside the first ten minutes to deservedly put the hosts 1-0 to the good, comfortably converting a low cross.
Hinckley couldn’t find a foothold in the game early on and were unable to break down Khalsa’s high line, and the hosts went 2-0 ahead on the quarter hour mark through Mensah Kinch.
After the interval, Hinckley were much improved and grabbed a deserved goal shortly before the hour mark. Richards continued his impressive pre-season form by grabbing the goal with a low twenty yard strike into the bottom corner that gave the home ‘keeper no chance.
But despite their second half improvement, Hinckley couldn’t break down the home defence for a second time and Khalsa comfortably held on for the victory.
