On This Day: Abbo Appointed
It is a year to the day since Carl Abbott was announced as Hinckley AFC’s first ever manager, and it’s fair to say he’s led the club on a fantastic journey over the last twelve months.
Putting together a team from scratch would challenge any manager, and despite a far from ideal run at the start of the season, Abbo made tweaks to the line up throughout the season.
This enabled him, along with assistant Paul Tomlinson and goalkeeping coach Tony Workman, to lead the team on a remarkable 27-match unbeaten run, to the Jelson Homes Senior Cup Final and to third place in the Midland League First Division: a phenomenal achievement for any club in its first year of existence.
From champagne at Southam, to the late shows at Bolehall and Bromsgrove, Abbo has kicked every ball and cheered every goal in these last twelve months. Here’s to the next twelve months…
His overall competitive record at Hinckley stands at:
Played 46
Won 27
Drawn 7
Lost 12
Goals Scored 123
Goals Conceded 64
