Twelve Days of Christmas: October
Today we look back at the month of October in AFC’s Twelve Days of Christmas.
An away win at Pilkington XXX on Saturday 4th kick-started a successful month for the club both on and off the pitch.
Following this, a members’ meeting on Tuesday 7th saw the clubhouse at the Greene King Stadium officially renamed ‘Gadsby’s’, before two home defeats in a week to Bolehall Swifts, in the Les James Challenge Cup and the league, left AFC in sixteenth and out of the league cup.
The following week’s 3-1 victory over Cadbury Athletic gave Carl Abbott’s men another three points, but there was to be no progression in the JW Hunt Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Alvechurch.
On the pitch, the month was completed with a league win at Atherstone Town and a 6-2 win over Allexton and New Parks to progress to the quarter finals of the Jelson Homes Senior Cup.
The following day, the club held its first AGM in Gadsby’s, where reports were given by the chairman, secretary and treasurer.
