Twelve Days of Christmas: September
Today, we look back at the month of September in AFC’s Twelve Days of Christmas.
Our first match of the month saw us take a break from league action, travelling to Tipton Town in the FA Vase. After going 2-0 down early on, Mark Bellingham gave AFC hope by halving the deficit shortly before half time, but Tipton held on for the win and AFC’s first cup run was over.
Then, a trio of league defeats to Highgate United (3-0), Racing Club Warwick (2-1) and Studley (1-0) meant that we looked like going the whole month without a win.
That was until Houghton Rangers visited St John’s Park at the end of the month, where goals from JJ Melligan, Mark Bellingham and Ryan Taylor ensured AFC progressed to the next round.
Off the pitch, we announced the date of our first AGM – Wednesday 29th October – and it was confirmed that the Juniors had officially changed their name to become Hinckley AFC Juniors.
