Twelve Days of Christmas: August

The month of August saw Hinckley AFC kick off their competitive life as a football club with a 3-0 win at Southam United.

Luke Richards opened the scoring early in the second half, before goals from JJ Melligan and Mark Bellingham wrapped up an opening day win to put AFC top of the league.

It didn’t last though, and Carl Abbott’s side were brought back down to Earth with a 6-1 thumping by Uttoxeter Town.

Then, a 13-0 win over Pelsall Villa raised expectations again, but defeats to Cadbury Athletic, Bromsgrove Sporting and Littleton along with a damp 1-1 draw against Heather St John’s meant that Hinckley finished the month in fourteenth place.
