Abbo: I Liked Us Today
Hinckley AFC manager Carl Abbott praised was his side played with ‘personality’ in their 5-1 victory over Atherstone Town earlier.
His side have scored four goals or more in their last four games, and Abbott said he was delighted with the way his players expressed themselves.
‘I liked us today. I thought we played with a lot of personality, after the first ten minutes when we were a little sloppy, but we got our heads in the game and played with a lot of personality and we expressed ourselves.
‘The guys did what we asked of them, and did the things that they are good at. They moved the ball quickly, with a lot of invention, and I thought we looked good today.
‘It was a good game to watch and we flexed our muscles nicely.’
Hinckley went behind after sixteen minutes when Mark Latham headed Atherstone into the lead, but Abbott was always confident his side would respond positively.
‘That’s the mindset that we’re in now. I didn’t feel that it would be a problem getting back into the game, and you could feel that optimism around the ground. I thought we got what we rightly deserved from the game.’
After much discussion, the Man of the Match award was given to JJ Melligan for his constant running, but the former Wolves Casuals boss said that anyone could have won it, such was the quality of the team’s performance.
‘It could have been anyone. Nathan Walker was marvellous again, I thought JJ (Melligan) was fantastic, I thought Marco (Adaggio) was great for us as well as the guys at the back.
‘I was a real pick who you like from the players, and JJ was fantastic as ever.’
