Hartopp and Healy sign
Hinckley AFC are pleased to announce the signings of Jack Hartopp and Michael Healy from league rivals Alvis Sporting.
Both players were on the substitutes’ bench for yesterday’s 4-0 win over Littleton. Hartopp didn’t come on, but Healy played the final nine minutes after replacing JJ Melligan.
Hartopp is an 18-year-old goalkeeper, and had an outstanding game against Hinckley at St John”s Park two weeks ago. He will compete with Sam Arnold for the number one shirt.
Healy, a striker, scored Alvis’ penalty two weeks ago, and has scored fifteen goals in all competitions for them this season.
Speaking after yesterday’s game, Carl Abbott spoke of the new signings. He said: ‘Jack Hartopp was sensational when we played Alvis down here, and we like the look of him.
‘We’d seen him against Nuneaton Griff the week before, when we scouted Alvis, and he’s a great addition. He’s only just turned eighteen, he will start on Tuesday night (against Aylestone Park) and he lives locally too.
‘Michael Healy is a young striker, he’s only ninteen, and has scored fifteen goals for Alvis, who are second from bottom. He looks a really good prospect, and again lives locally.
‘I can’t praise too much the work that Gunny (Dave Gunn) has done for us there – he’s gone out and found us a player. We’ve been aware of him, he’s been earmarked, we’ve watched him play and everything that Gunny said about him was right.
‘We found out a little bit of background information on him, found out where he lived, and we brought him in. Things are working well internally now as well, and they’re two good additions.’
