Match Preview: Coventry Copsewood (a)
Eighth placed Coventry Copsewood are today’s opposition for Hinckley AFC as they look to extend the run that has seen them lose just one league game since the end of September.
Carl Abbott’s side are unbeaten in five after Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Lichfield City – a very creditable result given the circumstances with JJ Mellligan playing the full ninety minutes in goal.
On the same evening, the home side played their first league game in a month in a 3-3 draw with Southam United.
But you have to go back to October 18th for their previous league fixture – a 2-1 victory over Heather St John’s – as their match last Saturday was abandoned after half an hour due to a serious injury to Copsewood defender Daniel Povey.
Copsewood lie two places above Hinckley, but the visitors will leapfrog their hosts with a win this afternoon. Copsewood, however, do have three games in hand.
Hinckley midfielder Asa Wright will play for Shifnal Town this weekend after completing a loan move there yesterday. On Twitter, Abbott said: ‘Asa Wright will get a few games at Shifnal, but he will remain iinvolved at Hinckley AFC and a big part of plans.
‘We await diagnosis on a knee problem which will probably require surgery, and which makes it difficult to manage involvement.
‘Asa is a player I rate very highly and we will do everything we can to help him get back to fitness. He is still our player.’
