Match Preview: Bromsgrove Sporting (h)
Two of the country’s youngest football clubs will meet at St John’s Park tomorrow afternoon, when Hinckley AFC take on Bromsgrove Sporting, kick off 3pm.
Founded in 2009, ‘The Rouslers’ were formed from the ashes of the old Bromsgrove Rovers, and currently have the same playing record as Hinckley: won two, lost two.
They appointed a new manager this week, with former Studley boss Paul Smith taking the reigns at The Victoria Ground following Adrian Mander’s resignation.
Meanwhile, Hinckley will be hoping to bounce back from last week’s last minute defeat at Cadbury Athletic. Reflecting on last week’s match, manager Carl Abbott said: ‘In all truth, we should have been four or five goals up at half time, but their keeper played very well. As a team, you will have days like that, and other teams will have that sort of day too.
Abbott says that consistency will be the key in the Midland League First Division this season, as many sides have similar playing records to Hinckley and Bromsgrove. ‘Every side in the league has now dropped points, and it looks as thought the league will be just as nip and tuck as we thought it would be.
‘We are a new side in a new environment, and perhaps this does explain a little of the inconsistency and evident nervous tension. I have every faith, though, that we will acclimatise and find our our groove sooner rather than later, and that we will make our mark this season’
