Squad Update
Hinckley AFC have completed the signings of Ben Astley, Ray Facey, Mark Bellingham and John Clapp.
Goalkeeper Astley started Wednesday’s Supporters Direct Shield match against AFC Rushden and Diamonds, but was forced off at half time with a shin injury.
Facey has been with the club during pre-season, and has impressed supporters with strong displays on the left.
Meanwhile, Bellingham joins the club from Bromsgrove Sporting, where he finished as top goalscorer in last season’s Midland Combination after scoring 45 times. Manager Carl Abbott says the Bellingham will be a ‘fantastic addition’ to the squad.
Clapp is a 6’5″ former Romulus central defender, who Abbott felt was a necessary addition to supplement his back line. ‘He is a born winner, and is fiercely competitive. He has all the attributes that I feel are missing to round off what we have defensively.’
However, doubts have been cast over Craig Bannister’s future at the club. He is in high demand elsewhere, and is finding travelling coupled with family commitments difficult to balance.
Facey, Bellingham and Clapp are all available for tomorrow’s season opener at Southam, kick off 3pm.
