A pacy and powerful striker, Sam Lockley joined Hinckley AFC from Heather St John’s a month into the 2020/21 season.
Having started out with Rugby Borough and come through the Strachan Football Foundation, Lockley quickly gained a move across town to Rugby Town in December 2017.
He marked his first appearance with a goal and then netted a 25-minute hat-trick the following January, but his momentum was brought to a harsh halt when he broke his ankle in March.
After recovering from that, he joined Long Buckby on loan to regain fitness, scoring four goals in eight games, and then linked up with Coventry United.
Having returned to Rugby, most of his appearances came from the bench but he scored 16 goals in 16 games in a spell back at Long Buckby before moving to Heather and then Hinckley.
He scored twice on his AFC debut away to Rocester, but managed just three appearances before lockdown curtailed that season.
He then left the following summer, and spent most of his time in the United Counties Premier South with Rugby Borough, Long Buckby and Daventry Town before joining Coventry Sphinx at step four. He re-joined Hinckley the following summer.
