Experienced full back Matt Dawson joined Hinckley AFC in September 2022 from Leicestershire rivals Aylestone Park in September 2022.

An attack-minded right-back, he chips in with more than his fair share of goals and assists and his energetic displays down the flank quickly led to him becoming a fan favourite.

In two seasons at the club, he was part of the team that won the Midland League Cup in 2023 and the Division One title the following season.

And such was his impact at the back and going forward that he was voted as the Supporters’ Player of the Year in both of those seasons – but he departed for Rugby Borough that summer and helped them to promotion to step four before returning to Hinckley.

Having spent two separate spells with Quorn and a spell at step four with Stamford, he has considerable higher level experience after his first breakthrough into first team football came with Anstey Nomads, which earned him a move to Stamford in 2019.

A return to Quorn followed after that, where he remained until moving to the United Counties Division One with Aylestone in the latter part of 2021/22.
