A tall young centre back, Ben Whitehead made his Hinckley AFC debut in the first game of the 2020/21 season against Cadbury Athletic.
After being in and out of the side during that shortened campaign, the following 2021/22 season was when he became a first-team regular with 43 games under his belt as the side finished second in the United Counties Division One. Manager Courtney Belford awarded him his Player of the Year accolade.
A move to step five with Rugby Town followed, but an early season injury meant he struggled to break into their side and he returned to Hinckley on loan, before coming back permanently the following summer.
That spell was short-lived – despite a goal on the opening day against Droitwich Spa, he soon left and joined Heather St John’s, who he helped to the step six play-offs again in 2024/25 before he signed for Nuneaton Town that summer, playing a handful of times for them before returning to Hinckley.
