The 2016-17 Midland League Division One season starts tomorrow as Hinckley AFC take on Littleton at St John’s Park, kick off 3pm.
When the two sides met in the final game of last season, it was Hinckley who emerged comprehensive 5-1 winners at Five Acres.
And they will be looking for a repeat performance and result when the Worcestershire side visit for the opening game of the league campaign.
Having not qualified for the FA Cup, Littleton are yet to play a competitive game this season while Hinckley already have two matches under their belt against Heanor Town.
AFC were defeated 5-1 on Tuesday, but the last time they went five goals down in a game – against Uttoxeter Town in 2014 – they bounced back with an emphatic win next time out. Carl Abbott’s side will hope to do the same again tomorrow.
Littleton were only three points away from FA Cup football this season, having finished ninth last term to record back-to-back top half finishes.
They won six of their last eight matches last term and kept four clean sheets in the process, but scored the fewest goals of any side in the top half in 2015-16.
